C&D FOUNDATION ORGANIZED FORUM POLICY ON ACCESS TO INFORMATION

Forum policy on access to information (Forum Policy A2I) successfully organized by C&D Foundation took place in Hong Ha Hotel, 204 Tran Quang Khai st, Hanoi from 1:30-5:30 pm in April 24th, 2015 with the participation of the great participants, special guests from prestigious institutions and organizations. Forum Policy A2I is considered to be the first policy dialogue in Vietnam which mentioned issues about Access to information transparently and correctly, protected the rights of vulnerable groups, especially youth.

Forum Policy A2I was under the chairmanship of the Executive Board and Policy Advisory Department of C&D Foundation which the chairwoman is Ms. Pham Thuy Anh – President of CDF and the representation is  Mrs Tran Thuy Lan-CEO of CDF. Besides, it’s an honor for the organizers to welcome the delegates, special guests such as Mr David Devine, Ambassador of Canada to Vietnam, Dr. Dang Dung Chi – Director and Dr. Hoang Van Nghia – Deputy Director of Human Rights Institute of Ho Chi Minh National Politics Academy, Nguyen Dinh Quyen - Deputy Chairman of the Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly, Mrs. Hoang Thi Hoa - standing Trustee Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Teenagers and Children of the National Assembly, Mr. Le Doan Hop - Former Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Tran Duc Lai - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Tran The Vuong - Former members of the standing committees of National Assembly, Prof. Nguyen Dang Dung – Prof of Law, Ms. Tran Lan Huong - Representation The World Bank in Vietnam, Mr. Mai Phan Loi - Deputy General Secretary of Ho Chi Minh city’s Law newspaper, and other distinguished guests, representatives of NGOs in many areas in Vietnam.

Forum pleased to welcome the Ambassador of Canada

Especially, Yleader NGO, formerly the Alliance for Young Women leaders sponsored C&D Foundation, has now become a new NGO with the the other CBO in Ys networks as YCulture, YThinkTank, YMedia that involved discussions represented for young community to present the report on the status of access to information for young people in the years 2014-2015 which raised recommendations on the draft Law on Access the information. Forum’s Content revolved around the presentations for results of individuals, organizations, partners of CDF implemented in 2014-2015 in order to contribute to the draft of Laws and Policy mobilizing.

The seminar was conducted in an open, free and friendly space, where all participant listen and exchange ideas together relating to the issue of human rights and access to information. In particular, youth-through the forum- were given the opportunity to voice out their opinions, and were recognized as a vulnerable group who should be protected the rights, especially in A2I problem. At the same time, to ensure the information to be updated quickly and transparently, YMedia- Media and Communication Department for Youth has used the latest PR interaction tool first appeared in Vietnam to update news and images on CDF website and Fan page of YLeader NGO on time.

After Forum Policy A2I, the delegates came together to express their views on the issue of access to information attached to human rights. The dialogue finished and had the most successful despite some unsolved problem. There is a question left: “What about the rights of the other vulnerable groups? What about the rights of association?" This is the issue that Ms. Pham Thuy Anh hope to bring out for discussion in the next seminar. The moment when forum was ended and farewell special guests, we still see the smiles and friendly waving hands, it was confirmed the absolute success of the seminar. It can be proved that the hospitality of C&D Foundation has left a deep impression in the hearts of all participants.
